need opencart expert to fix small issue with uploaded theme

Hi I have installed an open cart theme on the front end there is a drop down menu categories [login to view URL] if I add categories in the back end it is not showing on the front end drop down. I deleted all the original ones from the opencart back end and not sure if I broke the link when I deleted it. need this fixed and a little direction on how the theme is working along side opencart.
