I want a program / script that allows me to browse to and select a folder, checks the selected folder and subfolders for ".nfo" files (All files are simple text files). For each ".nfo" file found the program /script will search the file for a tag starting "tt" and followed by seven numeric digits and will strip out all other content from the file and rewrite it with its original name. The program/script will list on the screen (So they can be copied as a list) the names of all ".nfo" files in the folder in which a tag of that nature cannot be found. The program/script will display progress as "Processing file A of B files - Filename-of-current-file" where B is the total number of ".nfo" files in the folder, A is the sequence number of this file. Upon completion of processing all the ".nfo" files in the selected folder the program/script will display a message that "Complete - X files have been processed successfully and Y files were found that did not contain the appropriate tag".
I need to be able to execute the program/script from Windows Vista.
The purpose of this program is to convert ".nfo" files created by Ember Media Manager to files that are compatible with Popcorn Hour Networked Media Jukebox ([login to view URL]). The tag is the reference to the information available on the Internet Movie Data Base ([login to view URL]) about a particular movie. I am attaching a sample ".nfo" file. You will see the tag in the third line of the text in the file.
