Long-Term, Part-Time, Remote, System Administrator Amazon EC2

Bid format: Please include in your bid response the estimated number of hours required to setup a clean LAMP server for shared web hosting assuming a) the server is already provisioned and you are provided with SSH credentials b) the latest stable release of all servers would be used c) all websites will run basic PHP content. We need a system administrator to work on a remote, part-time basis administering servers hosted through Amazon EC2. There are only a handful of servers presently (but there may be more in the future) which are mostly running LAMP stack. The work will likely be up to 30 hours/wk for the first 2 weeks and then up to 15 or 20 hours/week after that. The administrator should be familiar with Amazon EC2 instances and security groups, Linux server security and administration, MySQL server administration, system patching, application updating through APT. The administrator should also understand Apache server administration, SSL configuration, and how to use git repositories. The administrator will be responsible to either implement a mail server for multiple businesses or else propose a free/cost-effective solution for business mail and team collaboration tools. The administrator will be required to keep strict documentation of all changes to servers and document all administration processes. Please see the below requirements for more details: • Setup and maintain email server. • Provision email accounts. • Setup and maintain PHP servers. • Enable modules, libraries, and functions in LAMP servers. • Setup and maintain EC2 instances – LAMP and Windows. • Setup and maintain EC2 security groups (firewalls). • Maintain records of all security credentials issued to users, applications, and at the system level. • Maintain record of all system access points and URLs. • Setup and maintain Apache servers. • Provision new virtual servers in Apache. • Setup and provision MySQL databases. • Manage Linux security. • Setup PHP cron jobs in Linux, e.g. git/apache sync process, billing/invoicing routines, data archival/purge routines, etc. • Maintain a journal of all system changes. • Document all system administration processes, e.g. how to setup/enable SSL, how to provision a new virtual website, etc. • Propose and implement systems to be used for team and work collaboration, e.g. Microsoft Sharepoint, Google Drive, One Drive, blogs, etc.
