I have lots of products in a MySQL database, these products are from different retailers and each product has the name of the retailer it is from.
I have a separate table also containing all of the retailers.
Currently we have a search script which will search through all of the products in the database according to the users keywords. A user can then click on this product and it will take them to a new page containing the product info.
On this page I need a script that will grab the current products name and search all the other retailers for the closest match. If a close match isn't found then it should just say the retailers name & N/A. If the product is matched, it should say the retailers name & the product name.
We need the script to be very clever to only display products from other retailers that actually match the current product, for example we may have "Playstation 3.0 Console 2012" and "Playstation 4.0 Console 2012". If the user is clicked on the 3.0 console, it shouldn't show the 4.0 as a match from another retailer, as while the name is similar it is a completely different product.
Please don't send me a generic message that you send to all employers, tell me how you plan to combat this so that the exact results can be provided. This is very important.
Thanks.
