I have an inventory file that is updated daily. This file is a text file that includes the columns: SKUPREFIX, SKUSIZE, PRODUCT NAME, STATUS, INVENTORY, PRICE 1
I can fetch this file remotely and I already have a python script set to do this and save it to my computer. What I need to do now is compare today's file to yesterday's file and print the differences.
Specifically I want to see which line items are new (not in previous day's file), which are missing (not in today's file), which have a change in price, which have a change in status, and also which items had an inventory change (positive or negative).
Each of these reports should be recorded in the same directory with a filename of the current date. Attached is an example of the file.
This is a fairly straightforward task that can be accomplished relatively quickly. Many have suggested a simple diff between files, but it seems like you want a more detailed report and would like an output format that may be used in future jobs like this for more detailed tracking and analysis. I can provide that.
I'm an English developer based in the UK and am looking to establish myself on Freelancer. I can take this project on with no problem and will deliver rapidly. I'm trying to build reputation and am coming in with a low bid.
