Introduction: Path planning is a critical component of mobile robotics, enabling robots to navigate through environments safely and efficiently. As an Advanced Robotics Path Planning Engineer, your main focus will be on developing and implementing advanced path planning algorithms such as Dijkstra's and A* in the context of mobile robotics. Key Responsibilities: 1. Algorithm Implementation: You will be responsible for developing and implementing Dijkstra's and A* path planning algorithms to find optimal paths for mobile robots while avoiding obstacles in a known map. 2. Map Representation: You will work with 2D occupancy grids to represent environmental maps and convert them into navigable graphs for path planning purposes. You will also ensure efficient data representation and management. 3. Heuristic Integration: You will incorporate heuristics into A* algorithm to improve computational efficiency while maintaining optimality in path planning. 4. Path Smoothing: You will implement path smoothing techniques to reduce sharp turns and improve the robot's ability to follow planned paths effectively. 5. Probabilistic Roadmaps (PRMs): You will create PRM-based navigation graphs by randomly sampling the configuration space and connecting edges between visible vertices. You will also optimize the PRM parameters for efficient path planning. 6. Connectivity Analysis: You will develop a method to analyze the connectivity of PRM graphs, identifying connected components and potential disconnections. You will also provide insights into improving PRM graph connectivity. 7. Code Maintenance: You will maintain and optimize the codebase for path planning algorithms, ensuring readability and adherence to best practices.
