ASHE 2009 Report Statistics (ANITAU ONLY)

Every year the NSO (National Statistics Office) releases something called the ASHE report (Annual Statistics of Hours and Earnings. It has interesting data which they compile from an extensive survey. They break the data down into different areas so most of the stat work is done, means calculated etc. I am interested in extracting the data for two Town's / Local Authorities. Bournemouth and Poole. Comparing them against Dorset as a whole, Southampton our nearest City and Inner London. The data worthy of comparison are things like unemployment stats, gross pay stats and working age stats. I need the foundation data for a report not necessarily the report itself. Drag the data out and chart it up, look for things you would consider of interest beyond what I've suggested. All sorts of interesting things are there, percentage change from last year, highest earners, lowest earners, earnings by age. Think what you would find interesting to read about your own towns stats. [login to view URL] This link contains a summary report for the UK and draws general conclusions. 2,6,7,14,20,21 are all interesting but you may want to take a peak at them all for good measure, I think you're smart enough to know what I'm looking for. If you were say 21 you might like to know what your salary could be, what your peers earn. Maybe you'd like to know earnings by sector or how earnings in your town compare to the city next door etc. etc. The links are pdf files, weirdly however they link to xls files with all the good stuff in them. Take a look and let me know if you're interested in taking a shot. There is no other budget I'm afraid but you could take a week to do it and you could use it as portfolio material.
