We are Social Finance, a ground breaking social enterprise that creates new ways of tackling complex social issues in the UK and beyond. We established Social Finance Digital Labs earlier this year to bring new digital capabilities to the public and social sectors.
We are now looking for a freelance developer to help us build a prototype web application on a full-time contract over the coming 3-4 weeks (say: Monday 7th September through until c. 28th). There will be the opportunity for further projects should this one be a success.
You will be working on a day to day basis with Daniel Miodovnik [1], who will act as product manager, and Jon Tippell [2], who can provide technical guidance.
We have a strong understanding of the application requirements and the basic architecture and design, and have built a partial proof of concept (of which screenshots can be shared). Your objective is to strengthen this application – move us from ‘proof of concept’ to ‘prototype’ – and to build out a set of priority stories. Both Dan and Jon are happy to get into the code and help you as required.
We are working on a modern web application stack, comprising: Node, React, Flux, Gulp, Browserify, Bootstrap, Python, and Couchbase. For productivity, we use Atlassian, Trello and Skype. We expect you to be either familiar with or willing to quickly learn the bulk of these technologies, and to bring your own MacBook.

Hi I am familiar with the modern stack but I work currently though on the cutting edge: check this out my tools AureliaJS and ES6 (this includes nodejs, gulp, with jspm)
That said I am happy to get down to earth and get acquainted with other technologies since it's no fun to hang out on the cutting edge if I cannot get work!
I got into ES6 and AureliaJS with an opportunity quite similar to this from another European company
who gave me an opportunity to pick up ES6 and AureliaJS on the fly; i did so with great mastery; i have not parted yet with them; the contract is not exactly to my liking which is why I am looking out again for another opportunity

Q: I am currently based in Dublin would remote work be possible? I can't currently afford to give up my day job to work full time on something like this but I could do part time development and get the app in the prototype stage. would that work?
