I'm seeking a highly skilled and experienced software developer for building a desktop application to scrape text data from a website. This project is not about image scraping, it solely focuses on extracting textual content. The application may have to bypass potential barriers such as CAPTCHA, Javascript tricks, or IP blocking on these websites. Ideal Skills: - Strong understanding and experience in Python or other languages like Java, PHP, C#. - Familiar with popular web scraping libraries/frameworks like Beautiful Soup, Selenium, Scrapy or similar tools. - Experience of working with APIs - Basic understanding of news websites structures and HTML. Main responsibilities of this role: - Developing a user-friendly desktop application. - Extract text data from news websites. - Ensure the application can handle a vast amount of data and work efficiently. There isn't a requirement for the application to analyse or report on the extracted data, this project is solely about efficient data extraction. So if you have a track record in web scraping applications, this could be the ideal project for you. The website in question is [login to view URL] Pages to be scraped use the url format [login to view URL] (change date suffix and R and C suffixes for course and race in question) An index of pages for each date can be found here: [login to view URL] (change date suffix for date in question) Sample output for all variables required is attached. The app will allow the user to enter the dates required and will cycle through the races on those dates automatically. Bids can be made on the basis of either: 1) Providing an app or 2) Providing the scraped data itself
