From the looks of the requirements, it feels like all the XML files will have the same structure? Although the script will be generic, but it helps to understand the scale of the XML files. The number of files can potentially impact the performance. So can you help understand the average size of the files and the number of files processed in single execution? Python is generally something easy to be used for such tasks, but Java/PHP can be the good alternatives.
