Fixing A Video Game news module somebody created

So this guy made a module that I needed for a gaming site that displayed a game box, the score, and had all of the information on it handy. Problem is, it only displays articles that way, so every time you want an article, it has to be linked to a game with the score displayed. I would use the regular news module with the template, but that makes an even bigger problem: When the two latest news modules are on top of each other, one is displayed from latest to earliest, and then the next one is displayed below it, latest to earliest. This is a problem, because the site needs to be seamless in that people can see the latest news right there. So I need one of three solutions 1) Integrate the two latest news modules 2) Edit the module the guy created so that it's not so cumbersome when you want a simple article. 3) something else you can think of. I can try to get any files needed from that guy.
