I may also want to expand the foundation to support a home addition where I'd like to either add an egress window or walkout door to facilitate a basement bedroom/living area. Before starting the remodel, I'd like to have the structural integrity of the old foundation assessed to see what can and cannot be done.

Hope CDA is a not-for-profit agency. We built multiple homes in Biloxi MS after Hurricane Katrina. One of the homes 224 Strangi Ave. was built in 09 per the building codes. This house was elevated 10ft above the ground with close cell foam underneath and insulated walls and ceilings. At some point a tenant had a water line on their washing machine to break. The tenant reported that the water went over the portions of the house, but they had gotten it up. Several months later the tenant moved out and we realized that the floor in the hallway was sinking. The home is two stories, although the first story is like a walkout basement in that there are parts that are partially in the ground (pictures will make this evident). Would ultimately like to rebuild or raise the roof as the ceilings are currently only 8ft high, but would probably take that on in a year or two after moving in. I am in the process of removing a fireplace from a bungalow. The fireplace divides the living room from the dining room. The ceilings in both rooms are vaulted, and the beam from each one goes into the back and the front of the fireplace. The beams do not connect to each other, are supported by the fireplace, and are probably 18-24 inches apart. I am looking for some advice on supporting the beams/roof once the fireplace has been removed. I am also interested in options for the other end of the dining room beam as it sits on a wall that I would like to remove. I have ambitious plans about opening up this area, and want to make sure I make the right choices
